Captain’s Log 290626 – What to Bring on a Lagoon Charter with Us

Captain's Log 290626
A lot of people ask me what they should bring when they come on a charter with us on the Ébrié Lagoon.
Here's my practical advice from a captain's point of view — after many years on the water and seeing what works best.
Essentials You Should Bring
- Sun protection — The sun on the lagoon is strong, even with a breeze. Good sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses are important.
- Light, comfortable clothing — Breathable fabrics and a swimsuit if you want to swim in the calmer spots.
- Insect repellent — Particularly useful near the mangroves, especially early morning or late afternoon.
- Camera or phone — The light and scenery can be magical at certain times of day.
- Reusable water bottle — We provide cold drinks, but it's always handy to have your own.

What We Provide On Board
- Cold drinks (water, soft drinks, beer, wine on request)
- Light snacks
- Basic towels
- Life jackets (safety first)
- Bluetooth speaker for your own music

Nice-to-Have Items
- Small dry bag to keep things safe
- Cash in CFA for any extras or crew tips
- A book or something to relax with
- Binoculars for birdwatching
What NOT to Bring
- Heavy luggage (we have limited storage)
- Very expensive jewellery or valuables
- Drones (restricted in many areas)
Every charter is different depending on what you want — romantic sunset, fishing trip, family day, or private celebration. Just tell us your preferences when booking and we'll make sure everything is set up perfectly for you.
The most important thing? Come with a relaxed attitude. The lagoon has its own rhythm, and the best memories happen when you let yourself enjoy it.
