Meet Captain James Murray:

James Stuart Murray was born in Dar es Salaam and grew up between Africa and Britain. The water started early — learning boats on the Vaal Dam and off Cape Town long before he held a ticket.

He has spent more than 30 years as a licensed yacht captain. That time includes Atlantic crossings under sail, charter seasons in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, and 14 years as captain of M/Y Labrador, a 22-metre motor yacht based in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. He rebuilt and refitted her to MCA standard, ran the guest programme, managed crew, and looked after the boat as if it were his own.

The work was never only navigation. It was hospitality, engineering, accounts, and getting people home with a day they would remember.

After a lifetime at sea and a sabbatical, he came to Abidjan and found the Ébrié Lagoon. The quiet channels, the fishing villages, and the city on the water felt like the next honest chapter. Captain Murray's – The Uncharted Waters is that chapter: small-group sunset cruises, private charters, and inland days, run the same way he ran boats in the Med — the boat is yours, the day is built around the guests.
